The Bar Chart Diagram visualizes the value distribution for a certain attribute on a Building Block Type. All building blocks are displayed as divided bars on diagram, depending on their attribute value.

Additionally, all Building Blocks can be filtered and colored.


Upon initial opening, a Bar Chart Diagram with a default configuration is presented. All further configuration is done interactively on the diagram. Please use the tool area in the top left corner of the screen to configure the diagram according to your needs step by step.

Currently the complete diagram configuration is stored in the browser URL. Furthermore, you can save it as public or private saved query.

Tool Area

Select a Building Block Type for the content

Click on "Element Type" in the tool area to select your desired Building Bock Type for the content.

If user has any Building Block Type without assigned attributes for it, it will be displayed with the corresponding icon:


Select Attribute

Click on "Attributes" in the tool area to select an attribute which is assigned to the content Building Block Type.


You may filter the elements to be displayed within the Bar Chart Diagram. Via the tool area you can add a new filter or edit the current filter. See Filtering for details.


Initially bars are colored according to their default attribute value color. To change coloring click on the "Coloring" button and select desired coloring by numeric or multi-value enumeration attribute. 

Once you have selected a specific coloring, you can change the used colors via the legend. Left click on a color bar in the legend to bring up the color picker and choose a new color.

When working with numerical coloring (coloring based on a numerical, non-enumeration attribute) you can change the color gradient by changing the first or last color of the gradient. The intermediate colors are automatically generated.

Show/Hide Bars Labels

Click on "Display" and "Hide bar labels" or "Show bar labels" in the tool area to hide or show number labels on diagram's bars.

Show/Hide Empty Bars

Click on "Display" and "Hide empty bar" or "Show empty bar" in the tool area to hide or show empty bars on the diagram.


On hover on a bar the actual attribute value is shown as tooltip.



The initial diagram is zoomed out to show the whole screen. You can zoom in and out the diagram by using "ctrl + mouse wheel". Current zoom level is shown in the legend.


Reset View

By clicking on the "Reset View" button (2), you can reset the diagram to the default values. Look at User Profiles page for details.


You can download the diagram shown on the screen as SVG, PNG, JPEG or PDF.
