The Masterplan Diagram visualizes date intervals as bars similar to a Gantt chart in a project context. A typical use case is an overview of rollout, productive, decommissioning and replacement dates.
Furthermore, it allows you display up to three different related Building Block Types as levels. Filtering and coloring is possible for any Building Block Type on any level. Additionally, any attribute or relation can be added as additional column to the table.
Upon initial opening, a Masterplan Diagram with a default configuration is presented. All further configuration is done interactively on the diagram. Use the tool area on the top of the screen to configure your diagram step by step.
You can save the complete diagram configuration as public or private saved query. Whenever coming back to the diagram, the last configuration will be restored. The configuration is also stored in the browser URL.
- Name of the saved diagram (if it was saved previously)
- Tabs for tool areas for the three levels
- Save Saved Query, save as Saved Query, Download, load Saved Query
- Go to the List View of content types
- Zoom control component
- Reset to default configuration or the last saved state
- Tool area to configure content
- First level
- Second level (entries are indented)
- Third level (entries are indented)
- Legend: Showing types, coloring, filtering etc. for all levels in the diagram
- Content area: Showing the selected date intervals
The Masterplan diagram can be downloaded in five different formats:
The actual shown timespan on the screen (can be changed by zooming) is used as selection for the download. The zoom factor used within the downloaded file is always 100%.
Choose a saved Diagram from the dropdown list of saved queries.
By clicking on the
Reset View button, you can reset the diagram to the default values or the saved query. See the User Profiles page for details.
The legend (9) documents which content types are shown in the diagram, which color-codes are used, which filters applied etc. You can collapse/expand the legend by clicking the handle.
Select or remove Building Block Types
Click on "Content Type" (7) in the tool area to select your desired Building Bock Type for any level. After selecting the Building Block Type for Level 1, you can change the tab of the toolbar to Level 2 and chose the content type there. Once you have chosen the content-type for Level 2, the tab for Level 3 will also be accessible.
To remove a level, deselect the Building Block Type in the content type list on that level. By deselecting the content type of a higher level, you remove that level and all lower levels.
You may filter the elements to be displayed within the Masterplan Diagram. Via the tool area you can add a new filter or edit the current filter separately for each level. See Filtering for details.
Select Date Intervals
Click on "Date intervals" in the tool area (7) to select or remove date intervals for any level. The actual selected date intervals are highlighted in bold. A date interval can be removed by re-clicking on its tool area entry.
If you select multiple date intervals, the timebars of the data intervals are stacked in one row if they do not overlap.
All attributes and relations can be added as additional columns by clicking on "Additional columns" in the tool area (7). If the selected attribute applies to multiple levels, the attribute values of each applicable level are shown (1).
Again, you can remove selected attributes or relations by re-clicking on their tool area entry. You can change the column-width manually in the area highlighted in the figure below.
Masterplan diagram rows can be sorted by specific attribute value. Sorting is set for each level by appropriate "Sorting" menu. See Sorting for more details.
Masterplan Diagrams can be configured to show additional information via coloring of the elements.
By default, the elements are colored according to their Building Block Type. Via the tool area you can set an individual coloring for each level.
You can display hierarchical names instead of the standard names for each level by clicking on "Display" in the tool area.
Zoom / Change timescale
You can zoom in and out the timescale by using Zoom Control component or by using "ctrl + mouse wheel", i.e. change the timespan shown in the diagram. Mac-users should use "Cmd + Ctrl + mouse wheel".
You can change the width of the whole diagram by dragging the right boundary of the diagram (4).
The ratio between the data table and the diagram can be changed by dragging the separator line between them (3).
You can also change the width of the displayed colums by dragging the separator between them. The separator is located in the title (2).
When working with large sets of data or adding too many columns for the diagram only a subset is shown (depending on the browser type). A note on top of the diagram will tell you when this happens. Whenever a partial diagram is shown, the export button shows options to "Full Export" the diagram.
You can add more restrictive filters to reduce the number of building blocks. Always be careful with partial diagrams as important parts of the diagram might not be shown.
